Volkswagen Polo TDI & GTI

A major upgrade sees the new Polo range reach our shores in time for 2006. Up front is the corporate grille of its siblings with larger single headlights replacing the original’s dual circular units. The tail comes in for a revamp with a deeper “v” shaped rear screen and new light clusters. Two interesting models add some kick to the lineup; the TDI turbo diesel and the 3 door GTI hot hatch. If the Golf diesel’s success is anything to go by; (nearly 40% of its local sales are diesel), then the Polo TDI should have a bright future. Volkswagen sees the small diesel as an alternative to the hybrids of Toyota (Prius) and Honda (Civic). [via]
